The Ugandan government declared February 16th a public day to commemorate the life of Janani Luwum, the former Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda. Luwum is believed to have been murdered  by the then President Idi Amin. He was a strong critic of Amin’s government which was known for human rights violations, corruption and killings.
