Bachelor of Human Rights, Peace and Humanitarian Interventions (BHRP)

In addition to regular UCU requirements for all students, the following applies:
• Direct Entrants with two Principle Passes from A Level or the equivalent.

Three years, with maximum of five year to complete

The Bachelor of Human Rights, Peace and Humanitarian Interventions in the Faculty of Social Science aims to shape students to contribute to the development of peace and human flourishing through knowledge and skills related to the promotion of human rights and the ability to engage skillfully in humanitarian interventions of all kinds. The teaching approach in this Programme is highly interactive with group projects, case studies, and individualized research in person and through e-learning resources. In addition to university teaching staff, think-tank researchers and professors from other universities and guest lecturers working actively within humanitarian groups the press, government and civil societies provide content.

Content within the courses assists students with understanding Christian principles, human rights and peace building. In addition to foundation courses, topics include ethics of war and peace, sustainable peace, security and development, and risk and disaster management, among others. African traditions will be explored as they relate to peace building and gender and humanitarian responses to crises.

Graduates of this Programme are prepared to work with local, national, regional and international organizations as initiators, managers, facilitators and promoters of human rights, peace and intervention in crises and post-conflict environments that interfere with human co-existence and survival.
