Uganda Christian University (UCU) is receiving applications for prospective undergraduate students. The application portal is open and accessible at https://application.ucu.ac.ug/

Speaking in an official communication to prospective students and parents, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Rev. Prof. John Kitayimbwa (PhD), congratulated candidates on their achievement and outlined key application deadlines:

  1. The School of Medicine and School of Dentistry will receive applications until 20 March 2026, with pre-entry examinations on 23 March.
  2. The School of Law closes admissions on 27 March 2026, with pre-entry examinations set for 30 March.
  3. All remaining schools and faculties will accept applications through 10 April 2026.
  4. Students admitted for the Trinity Semester 2026 are expected to begin studies on 20 April, 2026.

We encourage early applications, as several programmes operate a single annual intake.

Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistics

Program Highlights

Much management work around the world involves measurement in numbers – quantitative data. Students in the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistics in the Faculty of Business and Administration at Uganda Christian University receive economic and statistical knowledge and skill to analyse issues and communicate results orally and in writing. Christian values and ethics are reinforced throughout the Programme in order to form economics and statistics professionals who have a strong Christian foundation for their work.

Application fees for Ugandan nationals Ushs. 100,000 ugx, Ushs. 150,000 ugx for programmes with Pre-entry Exams. E.g; Bachelor of Law, Bachelow of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Master of Business Admnistration.

Application fees for International applicants USD50.

Minumum Requirements

In addition to the other University admission requirements for undergraduate Programmes, one of the following categories will allow admission to this course: • Diploma holders who studied a relevant course from a recognized institution of higher learning; • Direct entrants who passed economics, mathematics, and other subjects with two A’ principal passes and must have passed mathematics at O’ level taken in the same sitting; • A Pass in mature-age examination – such candidates must be Ugandan nationals of at least 25 years and have formal education. Those who are successful, in both the written and oral examination, are considered for admission

Program Length

Three years, with maximum of five years to complete

Courses

In addition to foundational courses in such areas as writing skills and the Old Testament and the New Testament teachings, topics within this Programme’s courses include, among others: mathematical economics, microeconomics, statistical data modeling, probability theory, multivariate analysis and agricultural, monetary and labour economics.

Career Prospects

Graduates of this Programme can find career opportunities in non-profit, public and provide institutions. Positions include research/monitoring/evaluation officers, district planners, biostatisticians, consultants, Programme officers, economic/financial/sales analysts, loan officers and insurance agents.
