Uganda Christian University (UCU) is represented at the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the East African Revival in Greater Ankole, taking place at St. James Cathedral Ruharo and the Ankole Diocese Bishop’s Grounds in Mbarara City.

The celebration commemorates 90 years since the Revival began in Gahini, Rwanda, in 1931, reached Kigezi in 1935 and Ankole in 1936, before spreading across East Africa with its message of repentance and piety. 

Running from 26 to 30 August, the celebration is expected to attract more than 7,000 participants from across East Africa.

Hosted by the five Anglican Bishops of Greater Ankole, the event features The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda and UCU Chancellor, as Chief Guest, alongside Emeritus Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi.

Guided by the theme, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” Hebrews 13:8, the celebration provides an opportunity for spiritual renewal, evangelism and reflection on the Revival’s legacy of breaking tribal barriers and transforming communities.

For UCU, participation provides an opportunity to strengthen stakeholder relationships and showcase its milestones as a Provincial University.
