On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Uganda Christian University (UCU) embarked on a new partnership with Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to deepen mutual understanding and enhance internationalization between the institutions. The two Vice Chancellors, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi of UCU and Prof. Laban Ayiro of Daystar University, signed the MoU with great joy, recalling the beginnings of both institutions. “I remember those who initiated Uganda Christian University sharing that they traveled to Nairobi to benchmark best practices from Daystar University. It is now exciting to formally agree to work closely together,” noted Prof. Mushengyezi.

This MoU will:

1. Facilitate cooperation in instruction, research, projects, and staff, faculty, and student mobility.
2. Enable activities including:

• Student mobility
• Faculty, staff, or research personnel mobility
• Exchange of scholarly and pedagogical materials
• Development of dual-degree, transfer-degree, or joint-degree programmes
• Academic research, workshops, or joint projects

The institutions identified actionable steps to start collaboration, including:

• Joint staff, faculty, and student visits
• Student leaders’ visits to learn from each other
• Deans’ knowledge-sharing meetings
• Collaboration to share human resources, e.g., as examiners
• Joint event planning, including public lectures, graduations, conferences, and workshops.

Present at the signing were representatives from both institutions, including Prof. Muturi Wachira, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance, Administration, and Planning, and Jacqueline Mathaga, Director of Resource Mobilization at Daystar University. The UCU team included Counsel Samson Wanambuko, Senior Legal Officer; Rev. Dr. Richard Mulindwa, Manager of Church Relations; Rev. Julius Izza Tabi, Director of UCU Arua Campus; CPA Halima Nassanga Mutabazi, Head of Finance; and Mrs. Harriet Adong Atuyambe, Director of Communication and Public Relations.
