In a first-of-its-kind engagement, the Uganda Christian Univerity (UCU) Department of Communication and Public Relations Department, brought together stakeholders in the media-communications fraternity in Uganda to deliberate on strategic means to strengthen the collaboration between institutions of higher learning and the industry.
The event themed Synergy in Storytelling: Forging Partnerships between Academia and the Media attracted actors from some of the leading media houses and communications organizations in Uganda including Next Media Services, Daily Monitor, Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), USPA, Uganda Radio Network (URN), CBS FM, East FM, Uganda Red Cross Society, Capital Radio Limited, Chimp Reports, BBS Terefayina, among others.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, Mr. David Mugawe, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, said UCU remains committed to being the Centre of Excellence in the Heart of Africa, noting that strong media relations are vital in not only realizing this vision, but in advancing academia on a large scope.
The UCU Director of Communication and Public Relations, Harriet Adong Atuyambe, noted that the event is part of the department’s mandate to build and deepen partnerships while appreciating the media’s role in amplifying UCU’s visibility. Held at the Jackson Turyagenda Building gardens, UCU Main Campus, featured a panel discussion on “Synergy in Storytelling: Forging Partnerships Between Academia and the Media”, with Mr. David Mugawe, DVC Finance and Administration, Dr. Samuel Kazibwe, a Senior Lecturer from the UCU School of Journalism, Media and Communication, and Athieno Stella Marion from the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU).
Media partners also had a chance to tour the campus, experiencing firsthand the vibrant environment that defines UCU.
