 This research focuses on preserving Uganda’s invaluable native germplasm resources to ensure sustainable agriculture and food security. The faculty of Agricultural Sciences at Uganda Christian University (UCU) leads the initiative, in indigenous vegetable research. Indigenous Vegetables are a vital resource for household income, food, nutrition, and medicines. Like many Seed banks there is a risk of genetic erosion and deterioration. The project aims at strengthens the sustainability of UCU’s Seed bank by optimizing regeneration protocols and streamlining inventory management systems to enhance germplasm traceability. Its central goal is to minimize genetic erosion while ensuring long-term preservation and usability of these resources. The findings benefit seed bank managers, scientists, farmers, and extension officers, ensuring improved seed quality, sustainable agricultural practices, and global food security.
