One of Uganda Christian University’s oldest architectural landmarks has been given new life. The Walker Building, which dates back to 1920, has undergone a careful renovation designed to preserve its original character while equipping it for contemporary use.
Work on the structure has been carried out with close attention to its architectural features, ensuring the building retains the heritage value that has made it a recognisable part of the Mukono campus for over a century.
Once fully operational, the Walker Building will house a state-of-the-art Moot Courtroom, a dedicated facility for practical legal training that will give law students the opportunity to develop courtroom skills in a realistic setting. The restored building will also include designated university storage spaces, improving functionality across the campus.
The project forms part of UCU’s Campus Transformation Initiative, a strategic effort to revitalise infrastructure across the institution. The initiative seeks to upgrade the University’s physical environment while safeguarding the cultural and historical identity that defines the campus.
