Uganda Christian University (UCU) today held a thanksgiving service at Nkoyoyo Hall, bringing together staff from all departments to thank God for the year’s blessings and celebrate achievements as one community. The service was followed by a warm hamper session, where all staff received Christmas hampers in appreciation of their hard work and dedication.

During the event, 11 staff members who have served UCU for 10 years were recognized and awarded for their loyalty and commitment to the university. The awarded staff include Rev. Can. Prof. Peter Nyende, David Emmanuel Buguma, Dr. Miriam Mutabazi Gesa, Winnie Thakker, Anthony Agume Kabisyaki, Gift Sylivia Musiime, Miriam Achieng, Regina Nakabo, Justine Nakigozi, Geoffrey Papa Nakwekwe, Emmanuel Nkulunziza, Benard Isabirye and Harriet Asiimwe. The thanksgiving service was attended by the university’s top leadership, including the Vice Chancellor, Professor Aaron Mushengyezi, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, Mr. David Mugawe, and the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor John M. Kitayiimbwa. Staff attended the service in their different core values teams, such as Stewardship, Diligence, Integrity, Servanthood, and Christ-centeredness reflecting UCU’s shared values and unity.
The event was made joyful by music from the Springs of Life Choir, popularly known for their song “Lukusuuta.” Their performance lifted spirits and added life to the celebration.
While addressing staff, Vice Chancellor Professor Aaron Mushengyezi shared strong and encouraging words. He expressed gratitude to God for the many blessings UCU has received and noted the visible progress across the campuses.
He said, “Good is not good enough until it becomes excellent, and beyond excellent there is outstanding. There is always room for improvement.”

He encouraged staff never to be content with achievements but to always aim higher. He reminded them that God has already used UCU to do great things and can use the university to do even more in the years ahead. He urged staff to carry out self-evaluations, asking themselves what they have achieved as individuals and as leaders, especially since UCU provides many opportunities such as trainings and workshops.
The Vice Chancellor also called upon respective staff to be available and supportive during the upcoming AUUS Games, which will be hosted at UCU starting on Friday, 19th December 2025, emphasizing teamwork and commitment.
The thanksgiving service ended on a joyful note, leaving staff encouraged, appreciated, and motivated to pursue greater excellence together as the UCU family.
