The Education Collaborative is inviting member institutions to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming Entrepreneurship Strategy Workshop, a capacity-building programme designed to support African higher education institutions in developing strong and sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystems.

Background

Universities across Africa increasingly recognise the critical role of entrepreneurship in driving graduate employability, innovation, and economic development. Yet many institutions continue to face significant challenges—fragmented programming, limited strategic alignment, weak ecosystem linkages, and insufficient infrastructure to support entrepreneurial activity. The Entrepreneurship Strategy Workshop is designed to help institutions move beyond isolated initiatives towards a coherent, institution-wide entrepreneurship strategy.

What Participating Institutions Will Gain

Through the programme, participating institutions will:

  • Assess their current entrepreneurship ecosystem using The Education Collaborative’s Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (EED) diagnostic framework
  • Identify institutional gaps and opportunities for strengthening entrepreneurship development
  • Develop a three-to-five-year entrepreneurship ecosystem strategy aligned with institutional goals
  • Design a twelve-month implementation roadmap with clear priorities and resource requirements
  • Participate in six months of structured mentorship and peer learning to support implementation

Programme Structure

The programme combines three phases: pre-workshop diagnostic preparation, an intensive in-person strategy workshop, and post-workshop mentorship support. Each participating institution is required to nominate at least two representatives, including a senior leadership representative and individuals responsible for entrepreneurship programming or innovation initiatives.

Participation Fee

The workshop participation fee is USD 2,000 per institution. This covers:

  • Participation in the two-day strategy workshop
  • Hotel accommodation
  • Access to expert facilitators and mentors
  • Programme resources and materials
  • Six months of post-workshop mentorship and cohort learning

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to member institutions that are seeking to strengthen, expand, or strategically align their entrepreneurship efforts. Selected institutions will be notified following a review of submissions.
