Course description

The course will provide students with the skills to perform a range of Research and data handling & analysis tools, as well as a variety of statistical tests. Computer packages such as MS Office and dedicated statistical software packages will be used for the delivery of this program; The learners will be introduced to Research and research concepts after which they will have to use the same knowledge to analyze collected data. At the end of the course, participants should be able to explain and perform hands-on

Target group

The training is designed for participants who intend to learn the use of data management and data analysis. Those working in the corporate world, public sector, research institution, and NGOs.

Data entry using Epi data, SPSS, Data analysis, analyzing descriptive statistics, Analyzing Inferential/Relational statistics, STATA and or Epi info

EPI INFO Course Outline

  1. Design and enter data into a simple questionnaire
  2. Edit data
  3. Create quality checks
  4. Create line lists
  5. Data Analysis
  6. Create bar graphs and Epidemic curves
  7. Create two by tables

Training Approach

The course is taught face-to-face through a mix of practical activities, theory, group works and case studies.

Training manuals and analysis packages are provided to the participants.

Mode of assessment

The course will be assessed using pre and post-tests, continuous progressive tests, presentations, and group discussions

Award

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a certificate from Uganda Christian University.

Training venue

The training will be conducted at UCU School of Medicine campus Mengo or any other venue communicated in advance.

Application

To register for the course a form from our administrative office at UCU School of Medicine Mengo near Namirembe Cathedral. Application forms cost a non-refundable fee of UGX 30,000 

Payment

A training fee of UGX 500,000 will be charged for the course. This covers tuition fees, learning materials, study packages, and training venue. Payment should be sent to our bank account before the start of training and proof of payment sent to ucusom@admin.ucu.ac.ug NOTE: Foreign currencies will be converted using prevailing forex rates.   

Visit https://ucu.ac.ug/payments for a variety of payment options. The Administrator shall avail an Access Code to Distance Learners upon presentation of proof of payment.
