As the world migrates to the new-normal in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Uganda Christian University’s School of Divinity and Theology is taking a step to facilitate its staff and improve teaching and learning. On Wednesday December 16, the School provided five of its lecturers with new laptop computers worth Uganda Shillings14million.

These were commissioned and handed over to the five beneficiaries at an event held at the Bishop Tucker Boardroom. This follows more than a month of training which focused on online basics.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, applauded the School Dean, Rev. Dr. Prof. Christopher Byaruhanga for his exceptional performance, saying that the school has moved far ahead of others.

“I am impressed with the way your school has adapted and mastered online learning. As other faculties were still debating on the system, Bishop Tucker was already ahead,” Mushengyezi said.

He further noted that the Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology, being the mother of all programs, is the gate to all university opportunities.

Mushengyezi pledged to fully support the School, urging its head not to hesitate to approach him whenever any need arises.

He also pledged to renovate the Bishop Tucker Gate and turn it into the main university gate since it leads directly to the Administrative Block.

Prof. Byaruhanga said their sole dream was to get every staff member given a computer to smoothen their teaching processes.

He thanked the trainees for having endured the intensive training to the end.

“We now look forward to doing better than before,” Byaruhanga said.

He also revealed that the School has won a grant worth Uganda Shillings 69 million from St. Augustine Foundation of America.

Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Mukeshimana, a lecturer who participated in the training, said that the skills acquired would help him enhance teaching of learners.

“It was a refreshing training. We have acquired the best gift in life,” Mukeshimana said.

The training of lecturers started on November 4 and concluded with the commissioning and distribution of laptops.
