Welcome Remarks from the dean

Welcome to the Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology (BTSDT) at Uganda Christian University.

BTSDT is Uganda’s oldest theological school affiliated to the Church of the Province of Uganda. We are a lively community of students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels training for pastoral and academic ministries. BTSDT’s distinctive features are: community, formation and posterity. Our students come not only from across the continent but also outside Africa. In the lecture-room, our cultural diversity invites and challenges us to be a community of learners under the cross of Jesus Christ.

BTSDT is a place where men and women are formed intellectually, spiritually, and pastorally. We want our graduates not only to be leaders but also agents of transformation both in church and society. To this end we intentionally call men and women of distinction to join the School. For long, our we have been recognized for excellence in contextual research and publications, community engagement as an expression of ministry, and teaching. The East African revival spirituality stimulates our style of teaching and doing theology.

We have 15 programmes, 6 undergraduate and 9 at postgraduate level, which are carefully designed to respond to the needs of the present church.

Currently, the School is headed by  the Rev. Can. Prof. Dr. Christopher Byaruhanga
