Advent/September – Full -Time Day and Evening at UCU – Mukono/Main campus and regional campuses

In addition to the other University admission requirements for undergraduate Programmes, one of the following categories will allow admission to this course:

  1. Direct entrants who passed economics, math, entrepreneurship, and other subjects with two A’ principle passes and must have passed mathematics at O’ level taken in the same sitting;
  2. Diploma holders who studied a relevant course from a recognised institution of higher learning;
  3. A pass in mature-age examination – such candidates must be Ugandan nationals of at least 25 years and have formal education. Those who are successful, in both the written and oral examination, are considered for admission.

Three years with maximum of five years to complete

Rigorous understanding of how the economy operates and is managed if fundamental to governments, business, households, persons, and other institutions and organisations in the society. The Bachelor of Economics and Management programme is designed to meet this need through training students in economic theory and management aspects that are relevant to understanding of how the economy works in contemporary global contexts.

This programme includes coursework in the following topics: microeconomics, development economics, mathematical economics, political economy, organisation and strategic planning management, econometrics, project planning, trade and negotiation and intellectual property, among others.

Career prospects upon completing this degree can be found in local, national and international government, non-profit and private sectors with such titles as research analyst, budget officer, loan officers, financial analyst, trader officer, credit officer, banking officer, sales analyst, insurance agent, programme officer, planner, economist and consultant.
