Mrs. Jemimah Mutabaazi Nyangoma

She is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Nursing Department, UCU School of Medicine.

She holds a Master of Nursing Science degree (Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA), Bachelor of Nursing Science (University of Zambia). She also has a Diploma in Midwifery and a Diploma in General Nursing, both of Mulago School of Nursing & Midwifery. She has researched and published on neonatal mortality in Uganda and family planning, and has presented papers to conferences in and outside Uganda.

As Head of the Nursing Department, she led the establishment of Bachelor of Nursing Science programmes (undergraduate and postgraduate) at UCU. She has solid experience in curriculum development, having developed a Public Health Nursing Programme of Aga Kha University, a generic Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for the East African campuses, Bachelor of Science in Nursing curriculum at Makerere University, Bachelor of Nursing Science, Master of Nursing Science and Master of Midwifery and Women’s Health curricula for UCU. She has supervised research projects for undergraduate and graduate students on Nursing and Health related courses to completion.

Before joining UCU, she worked with the Aga Khan University, Makerere University, Health Tutors’ College - Makerere University and Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery, Kampala.

Between 2001 and 2007, she was External Examiner for Nursing programmes at University of Nairobi, Moi University and Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

She also serves on the Board of Governing Council, Bwindi School of Nursing & Midwifery, University Council (International Health Sciences University.) In the past, she has served as Chairperson Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council and member Board of Governors for Masaka School of Diploma Comprehensive Nursing.
