Dr. Miriam Gesa Mutabazi

She is a senior Teaching Fellow at the UCU School of Medicine and the East African Director for Save the Mothers Organization, a position she has held since February 2017. She has a cumulative 19 years of experience in the management of maternal, newborn and child health, family planning and reproductive health. She coordinated the establishment of the Uganda Christian University School of Medicine for two years ending December 2016. She also worked for Management Sciences for Health (MSH) for six years in different positions as Senior Technical Manager MSH-Strides Project and Senior Technical Advisor Maternal, Newborn And Child Survival.

For 11 years ending in 2009, she also worked as Regional Reproductive Health Coordinator for the United Nations Population Fund and worked as resident doctor and medical officer Obstetrics and Gynaecology under the government of Uganda at district and regional referral hospitals for 11 years ending 1998.

Dr. Miriam Gesa Mutabazi holds a Master of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and Diploma of Obstetrics, all of Makerere University. She also holds a Diploma of Health Systems Management, among other qualifications.

She has authored and co-authored articles and publications in the areas of maternal health and mortality and family planning. She has also supervised master’s students who have since graduated.
