The graduands include Can. Soitta Patrick Wandyetye aged 70 years. He will be graduating with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Management. He sat his A- level before the breakup of the East African Community in 1977. His success embodies hope, perseverance and determination, “I did it to set an example to my children and grandchildren,” he said. “It was always important to me to get a master’s degree”.

Can. Wandyetye is one of the oldest graduates in the history of the UCU Mbale University College which he joined in 2014 having completed Bachelors in Democracy and Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University. He has not ruled out pursuing a PhD, “why not?”, he said.

The graduation ceremony will be presided over by the UCU Chancellor and Archbishop of the Church of Uganda The Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali. It will be preceded by a Commissioning Service, a formal send-off session at UCU during which graduands are blessed and prayed for before their graduation. The guest preacher at the graduation ceremony is the Rt. Rev. James Nasak, the Bishop of North Karamoja Diocese.
