• UCU holds six graduation ceremonies annually across its campuses and constituent colleges

  • The multiple graduations and issuance of transcripts on graduation aim at facilitating quicker absorption of our graduates in the job market

Mukono - Wednesday February 15th, 2017--Uganda Christian University (UCU) will hold the fifth part of its 17th graduation at Bishop Barham University College (BBUC), its constituent college based in Kabale, on Friday, February 17th, 2017. The graduation will take place at BBUC premises in Kabale.

Some 207 students will graduate with certificates (4), diplomas (2), bachelor’s degrees (179), postgraduate diplomas (11), and master’s degrees (11).

The number of male graduands is 138 (66.6%) compared to 69 (33.3%) female.

Of these, eight (08) excelled with first class degrees. The graduation ceremony will be preceded with the commissioning service, a formal sendoff session at UCU during which graduands are blessed and prayed for before their graduation. The guest of honor for the graduation ceremony will be the Rt. Rev. Dan Zoreka, The bishop of Kikiinzi diocese.

Graduations at UCU

UCU holds six graduations annually at both its main campus, regional campuses and constituent colleges. These include three graduation ceremonies at the UCU main campus in Mukono, two graduation ceremonies at BBUC, and one graduation ceremony at UCU Mbale University College. Students at UCU Kampala Campus and UCU Arua Campus graduate from the main campus in Mukono.

The multiple graduations and issuance of transcripts on graduation day are convenient to our students who don’t have to travel long distances. They also allow our students to graduate as and when they finish their courses and in the process facilitate their quicker absorption in the job market.

“We admit students at different intervals; so, it would be illogical to keep someone who finished their course in January to wait for their graduation in December,” said Dr. Benon Musinguzi, the UCU deputy vice chancellor for Academic Affairs.

UCU has three intakes a year: January (Easter), May (Trinity) and September (Advent) intakes.

Further explaining distinct graduation ceremonies, Dr. Musinguzi said that constituent colleges are legally permitted to conduct their own graduation ceremonies.
