Job Description:

 

Job Title:        Lecturer - Theology and Divinity

Salary:            CUM 5

Location:        Mbale

Reports to:     Principal

Duty Station:  Mbale Campus                       

Job Purpose:

To carry out research, teaching, mentoring, supervision and administration within the department, especially in the area of Theology and Divinity

Qualifications and experience:

  1. Must be a holder of a Masters degree in Theology from a recognized institution of higher learning
  2. A holder of a Bachelor of Divinity and or Theology from a recognized institution of higher learning
  3. Must be a mature and committed Christian.
  1. Must have University teaching experience at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Lecturer for at least two (2) years, or Tutorial Assistant for at least three (3) years.
  2. Must have at least one scholarly article or publication OR should have undertaken at least one research project/ paper.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching, marking, assessing and mentoring students.
  2. To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments.
  3. To supervise or assist with the supervision of the undergraduate and graduate students.
  4. To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum.
  5. To assist in the development of learning materials and maintaining records to monitor students progress, achievements and attendance.
  6. To participate in departmental and Faculty seminars aimed at the sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
  7. To provide pastoral care and support to students.
  8. To participate in the administration of the departments programmes of study and other activities as requested.
  9. Supervising students on placements, internships, research papers and projects.
  10. To contribute to departmental, faculty, wide working groups or committees as requested.
  11. Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.
