Job Description:

 

Job Title:       Academic Registrar

Salary Scale:  CUM 4

Reports to:    Principal

Location:       Mbale

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. Coordinating and supervising receipt and processing of application forms from students.
  2. Liaising with Heads of Departments to plan and coordinate curriculum development for all programmes and courses taught at the university.
  3. Planning coordinating, maintaining and controlling university results, examinations and timetables.
  4. Monitoring and coordinating the admissions and registration of students.
  5. Ensuring that all students admitted at the university have necessary qualifications
  6. Implementing academic policies and procedure approved by the council.
  7. Maintaining all records pertaining to each student and a databank for all results for university students.
  8. Ensuring that there are no exam leakages or malpractices
  9. Liaising with various faculty heads regarding to teaching staff, students performance and information on different programs.
  10. Liaising with accounts department on clearance of fees.
  11. Ensuring that only students who have cleared their fees receive examination cards.
  12. Coordinating the marking of examinations and making arrangements for external examination
  13. Chairing Academic committee
  14. Act as a secretary to the senate.
  15. Arranging for graduation ceremonies for all students
  16. Providing secretarial services to senate and ensuring that senate approves all results before they are released
  17. Performing any other official duties assigned by the Director from time to time.

Key outputs:-

  1. Well considered and managed admissions.
  2. Accurate and up to date records on admissions and examinations maintained.
  3. Effectively coordinated registrations and clearance of students.
  4. Efficient and effective time tables prepared and well coordinated.

Preferred Skills:

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Should have at least a Master’s degree in Education Planning and Management, Social Sciences or related discipline.
  2. Minimum of Five (5) years Post Masters work experience, three (3) of which must be at Managerial level preferably in an institution of higher learning.
  3. Should have presented at least three (3) Seminar papers or has two (2) publications in refereed Journals.
  4. Must have at least one (1) scholarly article or publication OR should have undertaken at least one research project/paper.
  5. Excellent Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, Access etc.
  6. Should have interpersonal relations and managerial skills.
  7. Should have at least three years experience in a similar position attained in an institution of higher learning.
  8. Must be a mature and committed Christian
