Alumni hold Easter dinner
Written by Prever Mukasa

"Once students join the university, they are adopted by the university. Once they are adopted, they gain full rights of a son," Prof. Stephen Noll said at the UCU Alumni Easter dinner.

"Once students join the university, they are adopted by the university. Once they are adopted, they gain full rights of a son," Prof. Stephen Noll said at the UCU Alumni Easter dinner

He said, like birth, one's education at the university does not end at graduation, the graduates get certificates.

"UCU is a mother of all Alumni. To be a UCU alumnus means that you uphold values of UCU and bring in best ideas of leadership," he said.

"Time will come for Peggy and I to go back home. But, we will consider ourselves Alumni of UCU. We will consider you as our foster brothers," Noll said with heavy emotion. He urged the Alumni to give towards the new Hamu Mukasa library.

"You may not have much to give, but remember a widow's much," he said.

Among the guests was, Bishop Eliphaz Mali, who is one of the historical persons of the Bishop Tucker School of theology.

"UCU is almost a half of my age. My wife spent 27 years working there as a nurse," he said.

Mali was representing The Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi, the Chancellor of the university. In his speech, he read to the audience, a letter from the Archbishop, 'Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

Jesus is the same today and forever. The Alumni of this university have the same perspective. I hope that you follow the growth of UCU with love and support. Work hard for this university."

The guest of honor, Mr. John Wafula challenged the alumni to have positive attitudes to work.

To the university administrators he said, 'Strike a balance and make a university that is good and one that students can attend' Auctioned at the diner was a BSible which fetched 1.5m. This was raised towards the construction of the Hamu Mukasa library.
