UCU Students interact with EALA MPs

Uganda Christian University (UCU) students have been sensitized on integration of the East Africa Community and challenged to take part in active governance of their society.

Speaking during a meeting held at UCU, Mr. David Mugawe, the University Deputy Vice Chancellor for Development and External Relations said this program was meant to sensitize the students on why there is need for integration, the challenges is encountered and its benefits. Hon. George Steven Odongo, who was one of the legislators from East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) said the federation consists of 54 Members of Parliament with nine members from each partner state.

Odongo said they have come up with the following resolutions to strengthen the federation; introduce a private members bill entitled East Africa Community Customs, save, retain and continue the third assembly bills, adopt and operationalizeadministrative and financial autonomy among other resolutions.

He also encouraged students to actively participate in the governance of their society and embrace regional integration.
The EALA MPS were on an outreach program at UCU to sensitize students on integration and career. The function was spearheaded by UCU’s Departmentof Public Administration and Governance.
