“I shall be for you a director who is ready to work with all stakeholders of Uganda Christian University,” were the words of the new Arua Campus Director, Canon Bob Betti Nzima during his installation ceremony on June 21, at the regional campus in Arua.At the ceremony presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Dr John Senyonyi, Nzima pledged to elevate the study centre into a campus by the end of 2016 and a constituent college of UCU by the end of 2017.He also addressed the need to offer research and more practical courses at the campus.

“Eighty per cent of what we teach in our Ugandan universities is theory. The majority of our students often fail to graduate because they fail their research papers. We shall emphasize research in this campus because we need to produce students with skills,” Nzima said.Dr Senyonyi commended Nzima and urged the students, staff and other stakeholders to work closely with him.“I can assure you that the only way you are going to take this institution to greater heights is by working together.

“And to the new director, I encourage you to embrace and implement the policies of UCU if you are to achieve that,” he said.Senyonyi also warned students in the region against denting the image of the institution once they graduate and get involved in professional practice.“I can proudly tell you that UCU boasts of the best quality of graduates in the job market today. Please, do not spoil that image because it is something we have worked hard to achieve,” he said. The ceremony was attended by the Madi West Nile Diocese Bishop and Chairman, University Council, Dr Joel Obetia.
