DVC (Academic Affairs) Profile

Dr. Benon MusinguziDr. Benon Musinguzi is married with four children and has been serving at UCU in various capacities since 1997 when the university started. These include working as Director, Quality Assurance (2011-2014), Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences (2004-2010), as well as lecturer and senior lecturer.

He holds a PhD in Population Science (2013) an MA in Demography and a Bsc (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics) all of Makerere University.

Between 2006 and 2012, he served as a Consultant/Educator for the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) responsible for designing and teaching Refresher/Adult learners’ courses (For district planners & statisticians).

Dr. Musinguzi has also previously served as a vetter for the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), tasked with assessing and vetting academic programs of various universities in the area of Social Sciences for accreditation.

He was also part of the team of consultants for the NCHE that worked on the minimum requirements for courses of study at university level. He has written and published in reputable journals on subjects such as the human hand behind natural disasters, Impact of HIV/AIDS on household food production, The contribution of religion to the impact of HIV/AIDS on households, Effects of HIV/AIDS in the workplace, Designing remedies to poverty in Africa, The accreditation process and challenges of private religious-based universities in Uganda, and Determinants of health-seeking behaviour among men.

Between 2015 and 2017, Dr. Musinguzi worked as an external examiner for Makerere University and Nkumba University and has supervised dozens of undergraduate and postgraduate students to completion. He has also written and presented workshop papers in Uganda, South Africa, Israel and Ethiopia and he is a Chairman, Board of Management of Crystal Junior School – Mbalala, Mukono.

The Office of the DVC (Academic Affairs)

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs (DVC AA) serves as secretary to Senate and oversees the administration and organization of all academic matters including admission, undergraduate studies, post-graduate studies, examinations, research and publications and ensures academic quality in the university.
